Welcome to Rustic Oasis Motel
Located along the quiet stretch of US-395 in the heart of California’s high desert, the Rustic Oasis Motel offers travelers a genuine and humble roadside retreat. With a modest rating of 3.3, it might not promise luxury, but it certainly delivers an authentic experience for those seeking simplicity and respite amid vast wilderness.
The motel’s appeal lies in its raw, unpretentious charm. Guests like Varun Sood praise the attentive customer service and the convenience of in-room fridges, a practical touch for extended adventures. While the absence of televisions shifts focus away from digital distractions, it encourages visitors to immerse themselves in the surrounding natural beauty — waking up to sweeping mountain vistas and the serene quiet of the desert morning.
Tom Davy Andresen’s reflection captures the essence of this motel: a classic American roadside stop infused with retro flair. The peaceful, star-filled nights and open parking space evoke scenes straight from a vintage road trip movie. This is a place where time slows, allowing travelers to appreciate the tranquil solitude that only rural desert settings can offer.
Amenities align with its rustic ethos — free Wi-Fi and parking provide modern conveniences without excess, while air-conditioned rooms ensure comfort against the desert heat. Although there are no pools, restaurants, or fitness centers, the motel’s location just 13 miles from Owens Lake and about 50 miles from Death Valley National Park invites visitors to explore some of California’s most dramatic landscapes.
In essence, the Rustic Oasis Motel is a sanctuary for road trippers and nature lovers who embrace simplicity over sophistication. Its remote setting, coupled with a friendly atmosphere and practical accommodations, creates a quiet haven where one can pause, recharge, and connect with the vast wilderness just outside the door.

This is a very simple motel in a remote location. We stayed here on our way to Death Valley and we couldn't be happier. The customer service was awesome and we had a fridge in our room (very convenient). There are no TVs in the rooms but who needs that when your main goal is to explore the wilderness and wake up in the valley surrounded by mountains.
Classic motel, with a touch of retro. This was a wonderful truthful American experience. Very nice motel manager, and the rooms where nice enough for a quick stop on our road trip. What I really liked was the evening, so quiet and dark, all those beautiful stars to look at. And the feeling of staying at a typical "American retro movie" motel, in the middle of nowhere. Lot's of space for parking and exploring. Fully recommended!
